Spades rules
Bid tricks with your partner. Spades are trumps. 4 players in pairs
Players and cards
Four players in two pairs: your partner sits opposite you. 52-card deck, 13 each. From highest to lowest: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 … 2. Spades are always trumps.
Bidding
Before playing, each player says how many tricks they will take, starting left of the dealer. The pair's bid is the sum of both. You can also bid Nil: take no tricks at all.
Tricks
The player left of the dealer leads. You must follow suit; if you cannot, play any card, including spades. The highest spade wins or, without spades, the highest card of the suit led. Spades can only be led after someone has trumped with one (or if you only have spades).
Scoring
If the pair takes at least its bid, it scores 10 per trick bid plus 1 per extra trick (bags). If it takes fewer, it loses 10 per trick bid. A Nil made is worth +100, failed −100 (the Nil bidder's tricks do not help the partner).
Bags and end
Every 10 bags, the pair loses 100 points. The first pair to reach 500 points wins (if both get there in the same hand, the higher one wins).
